The workshop was absolutely worthwhile. Very informative, interesting and something a little different to do. It was a great blend of education – hands on and lecture – with much added pleasure of wonderful and delicious cheeses.

The Cheese Class Express Workshop was a wonderful introduction to the art cheesemaking. Rich Nathan and his wife were very hospitable and we enjoyed tasting our home-made cheeses and chatting with them after the class. I am excited to go home and make the cheeses in my own kitchen! I would highly recommend this workshop to anyone interested in learning the basics of cheesemaking, trying new cheeses, or just having a fun evening out and trying something new and different.
Bart K (Express Class)
I thought a class to learn to make cheese would be fun and different, but wasn’t sure what to expect. In the end – this has been one of my favorite cooking experiences and one I will want to share with all of my friends and family. Now I can wow them with fresh, fun cheese but also go back and learn even more. I highly recommend Rich as a knowledgeable and fund instructor and this class to anyone interested in cooking! Come alone or bring you friends – you won’t be disappointed!

“I would highly recommend Second Act Artisan Cheese workshops to anyone who is curious to learn more about cheese or just loves to eat cheese! Rich is incredibly well-versed in cheesemaking and seamlessly tailors the class to reach everyone’s knowledge level. Rich is easy going and makes you feel comfortable to ask questions throughout each process of the workshop. I feel confident knowing I can follow his recipes at home to recreate the ricotta and fromage facile we made in class for friends and family to enjoy.”
Thank you, Rich!

“My wife and I took one of Richard’s Introduction to Cheese Making classes recently and it was an interesting, informative and delicious experience! The day was perfectly balanced with a variety of interactive activities, including learning about how cheese is made, making our own cheese and eating some unique cheeses that Richard keeps at home and stores in his cheese cave. Richard’s hospitality is second to none and makes you feel like a special guest in his home. I highly recommend one of his classes, you will enjoy the experience! Come hungry!”
– Craig A. (Basic Class)
“While our family loves to cook and especially loves cheese, I was a little nervous about eight hours of cheese making in someone’s basement with strangers. Let me tell you, it was wonderful! Rich is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about cheese making, as evidenced by the tricked-out cheese “lab” in his beautiful home. He and his wife really make you feel at home. There were lots of cheese samplings (from his personal collection to commercial ones from Orrmond’s Cheese Shop), a delicious lunch and dessert, you learned how to make three different cheeses (all of which have a lot of variability depending on your add-ins at the end) and all delivered with an easy-going nature that made you feel like you were with close family friends. It was very well-paced and well-organized, and there was never a time that I felt I needed to look at a clock to see if we were almost done. In fact, the time flew by! My family loved the creations I brought home, and I can’t wait to start trying some on my own. I highly recommend this course!”
